Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... ![]() Our dear Sissy was a gentle giant. She was a quiet and shy girl that had a rough life before coming to Paws and meeting her loving foster family. There she stayed for over a year until she had finally found an adopter to love her for her remaining years. Sadly, Sissy would not get the chance to know this new home. She passed away from health conditions due to her age shortly after being adopted. We are glad we had a chance to show her a year of kindness and what all of her 8 years should have been like. She is forever in our hearts and minds. we know she is over the rainbow bridge running and happy in her true forever home. ![]() Belle was not a Paws of Tomorrow dog but was very near and dear to our hearts. She was a very special dog who's life was cut short by an unknown disorder. She may not be on our lap but will be in our hearts forever. Please tell your pets that you love them daily because you never know when they may leave your life early. ![]() Our little lab girl has crossed rainbow bridge. She was with us only a short time. This little one was dropped off at a high kill shelter, pulled and bottle fed until she was old enough to eat on her own. She was quarantined for two weeks and then transported to us from NC. Our foster treated these puppies very well and they had over come very harsh odds. However, we overlooked one detail. The pups had not eaten before leaving NC and when they got to us at 4am, we only gave them a small amount until morning. The adopter for this little girl picked her up first thing the next day...before she had eaten more. They then drove to PA, with excitement to welcome this little girl home. But, this little girl's sugar dropped and she became very ill. She passed away her first night in a new home...... It is so sad for everyone but most of all for that dog that would have had such a great life with her new adopter. We get so involved in saving lives that we even miss a step or overlook a detail sometimes. Please remember that when dealing with a small puppy that they need to be given small amounts of food or nutri-cal, frequently. They are so small that their sugar can drop quickly. We feel horrible for the loss and will forever keep her in our thoughts.... ![]() Sadly, our Bailey boy joined Rainbow Bridge today, 1/29/2009. Our poor sweet Bailey!! He was a poor old senior boy that was found along the highway! He was running in and out of the traffic and was almost hit several times. When we got him we knew he was a very old fellow and discovered the fact that he is almost blind. But he was matted so bad we could not tell if he was a boy or a girl. We took him to the vet and trimmed him only to find out he was not only a senior boy but he has a huge tumor on his butt!! Can you imagine a tumor almost the size of a baseball on your butt!! We had it removed and yes, it was cancer. We had hoped we got it all!! He is nothing but a rack of bones it is so sad but he is ever so sweet, all he wants to do is stand by you with his head on your lap!! Just because he was a senior doesn't mean he should have been forgotten and dump along the highway!! A couple very kind individuals offered him the sponsorship to see the outside of a kennel before he passed. Thanks to these individuals, he was able to be loved before passing. Bailey fought hard and made it though a very tough cancer surgery but the fight was too much for this old boy. He was so so sweet and when his time had come, he simply laid down with his head in our lap saying, "I'm ready, its time!" He was only with us for a short time but touched us in so many ways. He was such a sweet boy who had probably never seen love in his life. We were comforted knowing that he knew he was loved for a short time before he passed. He finally knew what it was like to be a pet! Its sad that not every dog has, "A dogs life". This boy will never be forgotten!!! |
